As I sit here and look at the clock, it is 11:30 in the morning on this bright and balmy Saturday. I can't help but remember years ago in my youth, the joy of Saturday Morning Cartoons. By this point in the morning, all of them would be over, with a couple of exceptions. One being the Bugs Bunny Show. It was always a melancholy moment, because I loved Bugs and the gang, but that show marked the end of the fun-fest that was Saturday Morning cartoons. When that show was over, grown up programming began (usually some crap like Soul Train). I would then turn of the boob-tube and go outside and play, or play around with some toys, or when I was in Junior High get on my family's computer and play Starflight or Space Quest.
It was a great childhood, climbing trees, exploring small streams that wound their way through the forest. Hanging out with friends, having fun at a nearby park with the old playground equipment. Yep, but those Saturday Morning cartoons were a highlight. By the time the late 90's rolled around and I was in the Air Force, I wasn't watching as much TV, and it's just as well because Saturday Morning cartoons were about to become extinct. These days, they really don't exist like they did once long ago. It almost brings a tear to my eye.
Of course, when I really feel nostalgic, I can open up any number of DVD's and watch the same cartoons I did all those years ago. As a cartoonist, it's like comfort food. And I can easily defend the idea of a guy my age watching cartoons. You see, it's because maturity isn't how old you act, it's how well you handle responsibility. I've been responsible (the medals and awards from my military service speak enough about that). So after all I've been through, I think I earned the right to watch a cartoon every now and then.
So as I look at the clock, it is still technically Saturday Morning...I think I'll go watch a cartoon.

Just letting you know.
Just kidding.
Welcome back, and I look forward to seeing your new creations!

Also, I know it's late and all but...I won't be able to make it to the 4th of July celebration.
Lastly, I think I am falling behind on my art submissions. I'm learning that as a lazy person, I find it hard to come home after 9 hours of work and sit down to draw my comic. Maybe I should hire some cheap overseas labor?
